NPR celebrates Dischord Records' 25th anniversery, talking with Ian McKay, whose name I've long been mispronouncing. There's also
a neat piece on his new band, The Evens, from a few months ago. It's funny that I used to think of Ian as such an uptight, over-serious guy, but in interviews (and seeing Fugazi shows), he actually comes off as a funny, regular guy. Most of those broody types from the 80's, like Henry Rollins and Morrissey, turned out to have a pretty good sense of humor when you looked more closely.
