Obama is a Cylon!

A good demonstration of why I shouldn't be skipping these debates: Obama said something really good and important in the last one. I can't find the debate itself on YouTube, but here's Bill Maher showing a clip (it happens around 4:45):


For anybody who says Obama is just empty rhetoric, here he is saying something very, very important. This is, to me, concrete evidence that he'll be a better president than any in recent memory. It's something he GETS: we can't achieve real peace through empire, we can't bomb our way out of this mess, and we can relate to the rest of the world as equals. This is liberal foriegn policy in a nutshell.

So now it's time for the Republicans to start up the slime machine. I got a forwarded email (I won't say from whom) explaining to me that Obama is a closet radical muslim sleeper agent intent on destroying America from the inside. The first line read "This checked out on snopes.com. It is factual. Look it up!" Which I did. And right at the top of the Snopes page for this email, "One version of this email claims "This was checked out on snopes.com. It is factual. Look it up!" and contains a link to this site. It's our guess that whoever wrote this was counting on people not to check, as our article says the opposite."

Even crazier is this post on The National Review's site, simultaneously raising the suspicion that Obama is a "communist" (these people are still fixated on commies?) and stirring up anxiety about his mixed-race background. "Political correctness was invented precisely to prevent the mainstream liberal media from persuing the questions which might arise about how Senator Obama's mother, from Kansas, came to marry an African graduate student." Sheesh. I suppose by the time this is all over, they'll be accusing him of being a Cylon.

Actually, Bobbie told me that Obama smokes. Cigarrettes. That's going to be it, isn't it? This stupid country is going to elect John McCain because Obama smokes cigarrettes, and what will we tell the children?
