Things That Were Cooler in the 70's, #746: NERDS

Here's a collection of photos from scifi conventions circa 1977. Yes, among the many things that were cooler in the 70's, we can count NERDS. Ironically, now that it's cool to be a nerd, nerds are much less cool. Seriously, the sets of pictures that show up online every year right after San Diego ComiCon are mostly pretty boring attempts to duplicate comic book and movie costumes, occasionally adding a "sexy" twist. In contrast, most of these costumes are genuinely weird and creative. There's also a lot of nudity. Did 70's scifi cons double as swinger parties? Was this the only way nerds got laid?
