Anachronous Joke

For some reason, this old ad campaign came into my mind the other day. It's funny, because if a young person came across these on YouTube, they'd assume that it was a pun on the slang usage of "cougar," but these ads are from long before anyone (as far as I knew) used the word to mean a hot-n-horny older woman. The joke comes into being retroactively.

Psychedelicatessen Radio, Episode 3.9.2: More Tom SImmons!

Download it here!

So we had a bunch of stuff left over after I made the last podcast from our long conversation with Tom Simmons (we talked for over 3 hours), and I decided to make a second podcast out of it.  This one is mostly about politics and religion, but if you make it to the end, Tom tells a completely insane road story. You can also find it on iTunes.

Here's some answers to some of our questions about funding for public broadcasting.

And enjoy the comic genius of Mark Russell:

Psychedelicatessen Radio, Episode 3.9: Tom Simmons

Download it here!

Tom Simmons and Bobbie Oliver started out together working the road through the South in the 90's.  Eventually, Bobbie moved to L.A. and Tom stuck with the road.  Now, they come together to discuss their divergent paths, joke-writing, road stories and old grudges.  It's 90 minutes and solidly funny and interesting.  I'm thinking I might post a second podcast from this material (we talked for over three hours), which would consist of us arguing about politics and religion.  We'll see.  You can also find this podcast on iTunes, and subscribe to Psychedelicatessen Radio.

Check out Tom's podcast Bully the Bullies, and follow him on Twitter, especially on Sundays when he does "pew tweets": he goes to a different church every Sunday and live-tweets the services.  He also has a second occasional podcast, The End is Not Near, and CD's and DVD's available, and he's probably performing near you soon.

Psychedelicatessen Radio Episode 3.8: Anne-Marie Symons and Scott Mouro

Download that sumbitch!

This was a funny episode, with comedians/producers/raconteurs Anne-Marie Symons and Scott Mouro.  We had a lot of material to work with, as they are extremely gregarious folks.  Non-stop hilarity!  Scott and Anne-Marie produce The Great Hollywood Stand Off comedy show at the historic Pig-n-Whistle restaurant in Hollywood.  Anne-Marie also produces the Mod Vod Comedy Show at WitZend in Venice.

Here's Anne-Marie's hilarious blog entry on female inventors.  And here's some video of Anne-Marie:
